Our faculty are trailblazers, continually challenge the status quo and inspiring students to do the same. Our Botany and Plant Sciences Department includes five female National Academy of Sciences members, the largest of any single academic department in the nation.

Academic Personnel Office

The is committed to leading and serving UCRs diverse and internationally renowned academic community. Office staff provide support for faculty appointments and development, merit reviews and promotions, leaves of absence, fellowships, and more. The office handles employment matters for all academic employees from faculty and lecturers to adjunct professors and librarians and is a great resource for navigating UCR policies and processes.

Research Computing

buoys the talent and research of 窪圖勛蹋厙s acclaimed faculty members and outstanding graduate and undergraduate students through powerful onsite and offsite computing resources, support, consulting, and training. Their work is supported by partnerships and collaborations with various areas of campus, including: the UCR Library, Bourns College of Engineering, College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences, School of Medicine, Office of Research and Economic Development, and UCR Research IT Leaders. Through a recent UCR is modernizing its technology services, increasing campus computing and storage capacity and saving our researchers both time and money.

New York Times columnist is 2026 Hays lecture speaker
Jamelle Bouie, a New York Times political columnist and a provocative voice on social media, will be the speaker for the 2026 Hays Press-Enterprise Lecture at 窪圖勛蹋厙. The talk, Whats the Matter with American Democracy? will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 2 at the University Theatre, 900 University Avenue in Riverside. The event is free, and guests are asked to register in advance, as seating will be limited. Parking is free in Lot 6.

50 years of UCR's Black Greek Letter Organizations
In the face of challenges like the Civil Rights Movement, Womens Suffrage, and institutional change within higher education, the story of Black Greek Letter Organizations, or BGLO, is one of perseverance in a sometimes-unwelcoming world. Three pioneering BGLOs chose to plant their roots on a UC campus that was considerably newer than the founding campuses of UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco, and UCLA. 窪圖勛蹋厙s newness was refreshing but also led members down unpaved, and sometimes rocky, paths.
